Herbal (Grass) Jelly Powder 1kg

Grass jelly is made by boiling the aged and slightly oxidized stalks and leaves of Platostoma palustre (Mesona chinensis) for several hours with a little starch and then cooling the liquid, creating a jelly-like consistency. The jelly is a translucent dark brown or black color.  Our Grass Jelly Powder usually needs to cook with Our Grass Jelly Syrup to give a full-body flavor. It is perfect for adding texture to your milk tea or herb tea. Product images may vary due to different packaging design, product remains the same as described.

  • Refreshing herb flavor
  • Jiggly texture
  • Can be served in Hot or Cold

Herbal jelly, also known as grass jelly, leaf jelly, Gui Ling Gao or herb jelly, is a jelly-like dessert eaten in East and Southeast Asia. It is served chilled, with other toppings such as fruit, or in bubble tea or other drinks.

Grass jelly is an authentic Asian style topping you will love. Also known as black jelly, xian-cao, or leung fan in Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other Southeast Asia countries, the traditional herbal jello - made of mesona chinensis - never loses its charm among Asian dessert fanatics.

Its smooth, bittersweet herbal texture and taste pairs perfectly with bubble tea drinks, and shaved ice desserts. It can also be served hot as a dessert, and be added toppings such as red bean and fresh taro.

Insider tip: Add honey, simple syrup or condensed milk to set off the bitter taste.
